Job description

Step into a hands-on role where your precision and speed keep a high-volume plastics operation moving. You'll own changeovers on injection molding cells and their integrated robotics, making sure each machine returns to spec and production restarts without missing a beat.

A day in the role

You arrive to a posted production schedule and prioritized worklist. Your first task: pull a tool, rig the next mold with the overhead crane, and perform the complete setup on an Arburg or Krausse Maffei press. You dial in parameters, confirm material flow with the Motan dryer/vacuum system, and sync automation with Yaskawa or Kuka robots. A sensor fault appears-no problem. You troubleshoot systematically, collaborate with engineering on a complex root cause, and document every action to IMS Gear standards. By mid-shift, another cell needs a quick adjustment to bring parts back into tolerance; calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and go/no-go gauges are your go-to. When mold changes aren't on deck, you run the press as an operator to keep output steady.

What you'll handle
  • Complete changeovers and setups for molding machines and automation per the production plan.
  • Verify equipment meets operating specifications and tolerances; make timely repairs and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot using established standards; partner with engineering on complex issues and communicate clearly.
  • Prioritize repairs/projects independently with a strong sense of urgency to reduce downtime.
  • Identify and resolve potential equipment malfunctions while following 5S guidelines.
  • Document maintenance and repairs for traceability in accordance with IMS Gear requirements.
  • Follow strict lock out tag out procedures at all times.
  • Operate overhead cranes to set molds and walk-behind lifts to move tools and finished parts.
  • Perform operator duties when mold changes are not required.
Tools, machines, and tech
  • Injection molding machines: Arburg, Krausse Maffei; familiarity with Engel is a plus.
  • Automation and robotics: Yaskawa and Kuka.
  • Material handling: Motan Dryer/Vacuum System.
  • Measurement: calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, go/no-go gauges; metric systems.
Skills and experience
  • Working knowledge of the Injection Molding Process; 1-3 years running injection molding equipment preferred.
  • Background in a manufacturing environment with strong, hands-on troubleshooting ability.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and clear written/verbal communication.
  • Experience with both injection molding and exposure to blow molding is beneficial.
  • Good attendance and punctuality; other duties as assigned.
Physical demands
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs. with material handling equipment.
  • Constant walking, handling, and fine finger use; frequent standing and reaching outward.
  • Occasional overhead reaching, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and bending.
Are you a match?

If you thrive on fast, safe changeovers; love solving problems under pressure; and take pride in machines running to spec, this role will feel like home.
