Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a plastics molding technician in Oceanside, CA. You will start up, operate, and troubleshoot injection molding machines and related automation to produce quality parts on schedule.

The role requires 5–7 years in maintenance for plastic molding, a high school diploma, and bilingual English proficiency. You will work with Quality and Engineering teams and may train other technicians. Equal opportunity employer.

Responsibilities

• Set up injection molding machine for all molds and ensure parts meet quality specs.
• Monitor machine parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle times) to maintain quality and output.
• Set up and troubleshoot robots, pickers, and end-of-arm tooling.
• Mold first article parts as needed and support quality checks.
• Perform in-machine preventive maintenance on molds and equipment.

Job Description

This position is responsible for molding machine startups, installation, removal and troubleshooting complex plastic injection molds, ensuring highest quality, efficiency, and on-time completion.

The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The employee will be required to perform other job-related tasks and responsibilities requested by the supervisor.

• Perform injection molding machine setup for all molds in all machine types and produces parts that pass quality inspections
• Ensure conformance to specifications using tip sheets, tolerance deviations, and part prints
• Set up and troubleshoots robots, pickers, and end 3 -of-arm tooling
• Mold first article parts 5 As Needed
• Observes machine parameters during runs to verify consistency of temperatures, pressures, press-cycle times, etc.
• Perform in-machine preventative maintenance on molds, including cleaning and greasing according to protocol
• Use precision inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, plug gauges, scales to verify specifications are to tolerance As Needed
• Respond to molding machine alarms, clears runners, and resolves processing problems and stuck-part issues. Troubleshoots and adjusts molding parameters within set tolerance limits to maintain quality and production output
• Identify the root cause of molding problems and implements appropriate solutions
• May train other technicians in mold setups, machine startups, and troubleshooting
• Work closely with the Quality and Engineering teams to resolve non-conforming and defective occurrences.
• Perform machine and mold preventative maintenance

Skills and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 5 preferably seven years of experience in maintenance or similar work using tools and machinery related to plastic injection molding.

Experience with injection molding machines

Communication and Language Skills:

Bilingual with Ability to read, understand and communicate in English language to ensure adherence to documented procedures and current specifications and comprehend complex work instructions

Math and Statistical Skills:

Ability to calculate ratios, unit of measure conversions and surface area dimensions for machine tonnage settings

Technical Skills:

Understanding of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance. Operation of injection molding machine and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, thermolator (Temperature controllers), Hot runner controllers and Valve gate control systems.

Computer Skills:
