Injection Molding Mold Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
Rosco Vision Systems is seeking an Injection Molding Mold Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of injection molding molds by performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The objective of this position is to minimize mold downtime and maintain mold quality, ensuring production is not affected by downtime.
Primary Responsibilities
- Preventative and Predictive Maintenance; perform regular inspections according to the PM and PD maintenance schedules to reduce mold downtime in a timely manner.
- Assemble/disassemble mold components, including cores, cavities, base plates, sliders, lifters, and ejector systems according to engineering specifications and drawings.
- Perform mold repairs, including but not limited to parting line (flash) repair, welding, hot runner repairs, electron system repairs, and complete mold refurbishments.
- Perform precision fitting using manual and CNC tools and equipment in the Tool Room.
- Verify clearances, alignment, and operation of moving parts in assembled molds.
- Ensure conformance to specifications utilizing CMM, height gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring devices to adjust tools and produce drawing‑specified dimensions, ensuring overall quality.
- Manufacture spare parts for molds using equipment in the Tool Room to further eliminate mold downtime.
- Follow safety regulations and procedures.
- Record keeping: maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, work order requests, and parts inventory.
- Communicate with engineers, supervisors, and molding supervisors: coordinate maintenance activities and address any issues promptly.
- Support injection molding production: duties include troubleshooting poor performance of the molding machine due to mold‑related issues currently set up on the machine.
Education and Experience
- 5 years' experience as an Injection Molding Mold Maintenance Technician.
- Inspection experience and ability to use precision measuring devices for overall quality.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings pertaining to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to injection molding molds.
- Ability to diagnose and solve problems efficiently; read mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams.
- Clear communication and teamwork skills.
- Adherence to safety procedures and regulations related to molds and Tool Room equipment.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, and ERP maintenance program entry.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing or walking.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
- Ability to access and navigate all areas of the facility.
