Job Summary: The Injection Mold Tool Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of molds/tooling for plastic injection molding presses in the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts mold and tooling preventative maintenance and repair.
- Constructs hydraulic lines and rebuilds hydraulic cylinders.
- Troubleshoots issues and repairs, in and out of press.
- Operates a surface grinder within a +/- .0002” on critical details.
- Completes preventative maintenance on plastic injection molds.
- Assists in maintaining maintenance PM records on the company computer system.
- Works on the production floor with tools in press to correct any issues to minimize downtime.
- Works with little or no supervision when given clear direction.
- Works with Process Engineers to troubleshoot issues with tools or improve upon them.
- Repairs, fixes, and implements engineering changes of molds.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Toolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of plastic injection molding process and plastics is required.
- PC and Windows-based software experience including Microsoft Office products.
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Ability to communicate and work with others effectively.
- Ability to work independently and effectively perform with limited supervision.
We Value:
- Associate Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Technology is preferred.
- 5+ years' experience with injection molding is preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Able to use a pallet jack with a 2-ton load.
- Able to use a portable staircase and climb to 12-foot heights.
- Able to carry 20-pound/3 cubic feet boxes up and down a portable staircase.
- Able to work a 6-day week, if required.
- Able to stand or sit continually for 4 hours without a break.
- Able to use a computer for two hours at a time without a break.
- Able to drive to local suppliers in own vehicle (with reimbursement) at short notice.
- Able to travel to off-site locations, including other Phoenix global sites, for periods of up to 2 weeks.
- Must be able to speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing.
