Socket.dev in Hudsonville, MI, seeks an experienced Mold Design Engineer to design, modify, and maintain injection and foam molds using 3D CAD software. You will review customer part designs for manufacturability, coordinate tooling activities from concept through production launch.

The role requires 3+ years in mold design or tooling, a high school diploma (associates preferred), strong GD&T and CAD skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in injection mold design, foam mold design, tooling engineering, or similar.
• High School Diploma required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, AutoCAD).
• Ability to create and interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T statements.
• Knowledge of injection and foam molding processes, mold construction, tooling materials, cooling, and shrink factors.
• Strong organizational, cross-functional, and communication skills; problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and maintain injection molds, foam molds, fixtures, and tooling using 3D CAD.
• Develop mold concepts including gating, venting, cooling circuits, and ejection systems.
• Review customer part designs for manufacturability and tool life improvements.
• Conduct DFM reviews and collaborate with customers on tooling improvements.
• Coordinate tooling activities with customers, toolmakers, molders, suppliers, and internal teams from concept to launch.
• Support mold trials, inspections, engineering changes, corrective actions, and production launches.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues including wear, cooling, gating, and defects; monitor cycle time.
• Maintain tooling drawings, revision histories, and project documentation.
• Assist with tooling cost estimates, project schedules, and continuous improvement.
• Read and interpret policies, drawings, and customer specifications; communicate with stakeholders.
• Work effectively in a team; adapt priorities based on business needs; maintain attendance.
