Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Paducah Cancer Center. You will support clinicians with patient intake, vitals, specimen collection, and basic lab tasks, while maintaining accurate records and efficient clinic flow.

The role requires high school or GED plus enrollment in an MA program, with certification within 12 months and BLS in some locations. A strong team approach and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High School/GED is required.
• Enrollment in an approved Medical Assistant program must be completed within 30 days of employment.
• MA certification within 12 months of start date (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA) and ABR-OE acceptable in limited states; BLS required at certain locations.

Responsibilities

• Record patients' medical history and vital statistics in medical records.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other specimens and log them for testing.
• Provide prescription and drug refill information to pharmacies as directed by provider.
• Explain treatment procedures and physician instructions to patients.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during visits.
• Perform routine lab tests and basic office duties as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilize instruments and spaces.
