Job summary

Vital Care Infusion Services, a leading infusion pharmacy network, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist with sterile compounding under the supervision of a pharmacist. You will maintain documentation, assemble patient supplies, and uphold safety and quality standards across the pharmacy.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, infection prevention, and potential handling of hazardous drugs per USP 800. A supportive team and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Registered with State Board of Pharmacy (if applicable).
• CPHT certification preferred; technician training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform infusion-related sterile compounding per regulatory standards.
• Demonstrate aseptic technique, hand hygiene, and garbing practices.
• Maintain compounding logs, supply assembly, and cleaning records.
• Support infection prevention and report deviations or contamination risks.
• Handle hazardous drugs per USP 800 requirements (if applicable).
• Operate under pharmacist supervision and follow policies.

Job Summary:

The pharmacy technician assists with the compounding of sterile preparations in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures, assembly of patient supplies and equipment, and other tasks under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The pharmacy technician assists with the maintenance and cleaning of the pharmacy work areas as described in the policies and procedures and the task management system, Manual and assists with quality control and performance improvement (PI) activities as directed by the franchise location manager. If applicable, the pharmacy technician may handle hazardous drugs in accordance with USP <800> and organizational safety policies. This position reports to the pharmacy manager.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

• Perform infusion related sterile compounding procedures in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate proper aseptic technique, hand hygiene, and garbing practices consistently.
• Maintain accurate documentation of compounding logs, supply assembly, and cleaning records.
• Support infection prevention practices and report deviations or potential contamination risks.
• Safely handle hazardous drugs in compliance with USP <800> requirements (if applicable).
• This job summary is subject to change by the supervisor based on the operational and patient care needs of the pharmacy.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Perform infusion related sterile compounding procedures in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures.
• Good interactive skills with employees, supervisors, referral sources, and consumers.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Registered with State Board of Pharmacy (if applicable in state(s) of service area).

Preferred:

• National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT).
• Completion of pharmacy technician training preferred.
• Experience in laboratory or health care setting.
• Preferred: Knowledge of USP <797>/<800> standards and prior experience in sterile compounding.
