Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an RN Staff Nurse—Outpatient to uphold our patient‑first care approach within the Northwestern Medicine system. The role emphasizes performing the nursing process, coordinating care, and ensuring patient safety across outpatient settings.

Required is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an Illinois RN license, plus CPR/BLS, PALS, and ACLS. Preference given to candidates with 3 years in a similar role and strong teamwork for optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSN required for all new hires after 01/01/2011.
• Illinois RN license required.
• CPR/BLS, PALS, ACLS certifications required.
• One year of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Nursing process: collect data, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
• Direct care and management of any assistant involved in direct patient care.
• Involve patient/family in care planning and discharge planning.
• Ensure patient safety and minimize health care errors per safety goals.
• Assess and manage pain; educate patient/family on pain management.
• Handoffs to next health care provider; participate in on-call assignments.
