Job summary

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in Colorado Springs seeks an infusion nurse at our Penrose location to provide chemotherapy, hydration, and related therapies under physician supervision.

Salary range is $34.00-45.00 per hour. Benefits include health, dental, and vision plans, wellness program, HSA, FSA, 401(k), life and disability insurance, PTO and holidays, tuition reimbursement, and incentive pay after 90 days for OCN-certified nurses.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under physician supervision.
• Maintains knowledge of drug reimbursement procedures and completes chemotherapy charge forms.
• Ensures pre-authorization and consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration.
• Operates ambulatory infusion pumps and documents pump usage and maintenance.
• Assesses patient and labs to facilitate dose modifications with physician input.
• Performs venipuncture and central line care including port access and catheter devices.
• Administers medications with correct product, dosage, route and timing.
• Documents nursing assessments and patient teaching in the chart.
• Communicates interventions to the physician.

Nurses with OCN certification are eligible for OCN Incentive Pay after 90 days of employment or upon obtainment of certification.

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.


• Maintains knowledge of drug reimbursement procedures. Completes all chemotherapy charge forms.


• Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies.


• Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage.


• Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, including problems and symptom management.


• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.


• Administers all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.


• Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy and medications to include, but not limited to, venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices, programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.


• Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.


• Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.

Minimum two years nursing experience required, oncology experience preferred.
