Job description

Metro Infusion Center and Metro Infectious Disease Consultants are seeking an Infusion Registered Nurse to work every other weekend at clinics located in Kansas City, MO, Overland Park, KS, and Lee's Summit, MO.

Candidate must be willing to work at all listed clinics. Ideal candidates will have excellent IV skills (PICC certification preferred but not required). This position offers high-tech infusion nursing in an office setting with competitive pay.

Under supervision of Practice Physicians, the nurse will provide clinical services including patient education and management for their assigned group of physicians.

Schedule:

Every other weekend — 26 weekends per year, including 2 holidays and the holiday weekend.

Duties include:
  • Access peripheral lines; teach infusion patients self-administration of medications; document in Medical Record.
  • Review and chart laboratory results; communicate with physicians and patients as needed.
  • E-prescribe medications and refills per doctor's orders.
  • Handle patient and other telephone calls.
  • Review EMR charts, order lab results, and document for meaningful use.
  • Respond to calls, meet patients on weekends, and schedule appointments.
  • Participate in quality assurance and educational activities.
  • Use clinical judgment to evaluate patient needs and prioritize care.
  • Monitor safety and equipment.
  • Facilitate good communication within the facility.
  • Coordinate with co-workers for daily coverage.
  • Assist in ordering procedures and diagnostic tests.
  • Order labs, follow up on abnormal results, and manage medication refills.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient and administrative records.
  • Administer immunizations, TB screenings, medications, and blood draws.
  • Follow professional standards and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  • Current RN license.
  • Minimum 2 years RN office practice experience, preferably in infusion.
  • Infusion experience required; chemo experience preferred.
  • Proof of current vaccinations, including boosters for immunocompromised patients (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, COVID-19).
