Job summary

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center-WHN is seeking an Infusion RN in New York, NY. This role requires IV therapy, vascular access, and infusion treatment administration, with patient assessment and education throughout care. The position operates on 10-hour shifts (8am–6:30pm) under NYSNA union guidelines.

Candidates should have an RN license in New York, BLS certification, and favorable experience with infusion therapies. BSN is preferred, ACLS is a plus.

Qualifications

• IV certification; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer IV medications, blood products, hydration therapy, and infusion treatments per physician orders.
• Perform patient assessments before, during, and after infusion therapy.
• Initiate and manage IV access devices (peripheral, PICC, ports, CVAD as applicable).
• Monitor for adverse reactions and respond to emergencies.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and side effects.
• Document accurately in EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and health team members.
• Ensure infection control and safety standards.
• Participate in quality improvement and department goals.
• Maintain inventory and proper storage of meds and supplies.

• Administer IV medications (antibiotics, Diuretics), blood products, hydration therapy, and other infusion treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Perform patient assessments before, during, and after infusion therapy.
• Initiate, access, maintain, and discontinue peripheral IVs, PICC lines, ports, and central venous catheters.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department performance goals.
• Maintain inventory and ensure proper handling and storage of medications and supplies.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
• Current BLS certification required.
• IV Certification
• ACLS certification preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care, infusion, ambulatory care, or related nursing experience preferred.
• Experience with IV therapy, vascular access devices, and infusion treatments preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong IV insertion and vascular access skills.
• Knowledge of infusion medications, therapies, and adverse reaction management.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to provide direct patient care for extended periods.
