Metro Infusion Center (affiliated with Metro Infectious Disease Consultants) in Florence, AL is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse to supervise and administer infusion therapy at the clinic. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm.

Responsibilities include placing peripheral lines, reviewing labs, e-prescribing per doctor orders, EMR documentation, patient communication, and contributing to quality assurance. Requires AL RN license and infusion experience; chemo exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current AL RN license.
• At least 2 years RN office practice experience, infusion experience preferred.
• Infusion experience; chemo experience preferred but not required.
• Proof of current vaccinations including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.

Responsibilities

• Place peripheral lines for new patients and teach self-administration; document in Medical Record.
• Review and chart daily laboratory results; pass information to physicians/patients as needed.
• E-prescribe prescriptions per doctor’s orders and communicate to pharmacies.
• Receive and return patient and other’s telephone calls.
• Review EMR charts for next day’s appointments and ensure required fields are complete for meaningful use.
• Respond to telephone calls; meet patients and schedule visits.
• Participate in quality assurance and educational activities.
• Use clinical judgment to meet patient care needs and establish priorities.
• Monitor safety and equipment and environment.
• Support professional practice by adhering to standards and MIDC policy.

Specific Duties:

• Place Peripheral Lines(peripherally inserted central catheter) lines for new patients, teach infusion patients how to self-administer medications. Document same in Medical Record.
• Review and chart daily laboratory results, passing information on to physicians and/or patients as needed.
• Eprescribe prescriptions at doctor’s order and communicate to pharmacies.
• Receive and return patient and other’s telephone calls.
• Review EMR charts for next day’s appointments, ordering lab results, consult reports or notes as necessary and document all required fields are within EMR to be eligible for meaningful use.
• Responding to telephone calls, meeting patients in the office and scheduling patients to come to the office as needed.
• Participate in quality assurance and educational activities as requested.
• Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs establishing priorities.
• Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
• Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility.
• Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) Standards of Nursing Practice; 2) JCAHO, state and local laws; 3) MIDC policy.
