Infusion Registered Nurse

Infusion Therapy Administration: Coordinate and administer therapeutic IV treatments and infusions, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive care agents, following established protocols and guidelines. Monitor patients closely during infusion treatments, promptly addressing and managing any complications or adverse reactions. Manage complications associated with infusion therapies, such as adverse reactions or infusion site issues. Demonstrate expertise in the insertion, care, and maintenance of intravenous (IV) lines and central venous devices. Ensure compliance with infection control practices and standards in the management of vascular access devices. Complete ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within the first year of employment. Maintain AHA BLS certification.

Education

Competencies
  • Patient Assessment and Management of Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients before, during, and after infusion therapy to evaluate their overall health and response to treatment.
    • Provide thorough education to patients and their caregivers on the purpose of infusion therapy, potential side effects, and self‑care measures.
    • Work with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive education and proper resources tailored to their care needs.
  • Lab Testing and Result Management: Analyze and interpret laboratory reports related to patients' oncology status, ensuring timely communication of findings to the healthcare team.
    • Monitor pertinent lab results to assess patients' eligibility and qualification for specific therapies, collaborating with the provider to adjust treatment plans accordingly.
    • Maintain certifications on all lab equipment to perform Point‑of‑Care (POC) testing for quick turnaround of CBCs, INRs, urinalysis testing, and blood glucose testing.
    • Demonstrate expertise in conducting POC testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results for immediate clinical decision‑making.
    • Uphold quality control measures and adhere to regulatory standards in performing POC testing.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records, documenting infusion therapy details, vital signs, nursing assessments, and interventions.
    • Ensure adherence to documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Patient Care: Identifies opportunities to improve patient care based on feedback from staff and customers.
    • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
    • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
    • Monitors quality of core process in department.
  • Technical Competency: Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
    • Obtains complete history and physical data on patients.
    • Reviews patient records.
    • Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.
    • Establishes presumptive diagnosis.
    • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
    • Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
    • Provides care that is appropriate for specific age groups.
Physical Demands

Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. Compensation

The base compensation range for this role is $32.69 - $54.14 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
