Job summary

Baptist Health - Central Alabama is seeking an Infusion Pharmacist to join the MCC Infusion Pharmacist team in Montgomery. The role focuses on clinical evaluation, preparation and dispensing of prescriptions, compounding, inventory control, and strict adherence to USP guidelines within an oncology setting.

Applicants should hold a PharmD (or equivalent), with PGY1 required and PGY2 oncology preferred; Alabama licensure is required, and oncology experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a school of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
  • PGY1 residency required; PGY2 oncology preferred.
  • Alabama pharmacy license in good standing.
  • Experience in oncology settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical patient evaluation and optimization of pharmacotherapy.
  • Preparation and dispensing of prescriptions with accuracy.
  • Prescription compounding and parenteral nutrition management.
  • Inventory management and record keeping per USP 797/800.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for providing and coordinating pharmaceutical services. This individual is a licensed healthcare professional who is responsible for performing pharmacist duties within the MCC Infusion departments. This individual's job duties include clinical patient evaluation, preparation and dispensing of prescriptions, prescription compounding, inventory management, record keeping, and compliance with USP 797 & 800 guidelines. The Pharmacist is responsible for adhering to good pharmacy practice and maintaining strict compliance with all laws and regulations (Federal, State, and local) governing the practice of pharmacy.

Education / Experience

Graduate of a school of Pharmacy, PharmD preferred. PGY 1 residency or at least 3 years relevant clinical experience required, PGY 2 oncology residency preferred. Experience working in an oncology setting preferred.

License / Certification

Active RPH required, Active Alabama Controlled Substance certification required, BLS required, BPS certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to accurately perform computer order entry duties.
  • Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations and the metric system.
  • Basic knowledge in pharmacokinetic calculations and parenteral nutrition management.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique.
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing education.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Position requires sitting for 10% of the workday and mobility 90% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
