Job summary

The successful candidate will hold a NP degree, have 3+ years of clinical experience, and maintain California RN/NP licenses with furnishing authority within 6 months. BLS/ACLS/PALS are required for ongoing professional practice.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing (NP).
• Minimum three years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner.
• Current California RN license.
• California NP License and NP Furnishing License within 6 months of hire.
• DEA license within 6 months of hire.
• National NP Board Certification.
• BLS/CPR through American Heart Association.
• ACLS and PALS.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the City of Hope nursing process in clinical practice.
• Provide independent medical management of a defined patient population under physician supervision.
• Perform physical examinations applying the medical model and nursing process.
• Develop and follow protocols/standardized procedures for Nurse Practitioners in the department.
• Assist in developing methods and systems for provision of medical care and overall department operations.
• Maintain open lines of communication with the physician and health team.
• Develop and participate in patient education activities; provide education and counseling to patients.
• Engage in performance improvement activities to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Enhance professional growth through education, literature review, and in-service.
