Metro Infusion Center (affiliated with Metro Infectious Disease Consultants) is seeking an Infusion Nurse Practitioner to work on a part-time basis in the clinic located in Evansville, IN.
Ideal candidate will have excellent IV skills (PICC certified preferred, but not required). This position offers the high-tech infusion nurse the ability to utilize skills in an office setting with competitive pay.
Schedule: 2 days (16 hours)/week (flexible days)
Responsibilities:
- Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site.
- Access and maintain PICC line catheters and manage/change PICC line dressings per protocol.
- Assess for patency of IV access device and troubleshoot issues.
- Address abnormal laboratory results, passing information on to physicians and/or patients as needed.
- Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered.
- Administer IV therapy via electronic pump, troubleshoot pump alarms, and/or administer via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing.
- Draw laboratory specimens per physician orders and prepare specimens for processing.
- Document infusion charting and patient messages in EMR system.
- Address patient questions or concerns related to adverse effects, diagnosis, or treatment within scope of practice.
- Use clinical judgment to evaluate activities and meet patient care needs, establishing priorities.
- Monitor the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
- Participate in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communication within the facility.
- Cover clinic as needed per the direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations of Michigan.
- Support professional practice by adhering to standards of nursing practice, JCAHO, state and local laws, and MIDC policies.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid APRN license.
- At least two years of NP office practice experience, preferably in an infusion-related practice.
- Infusion experience.
- Chemo experience is preferred but not required.
- Proof of current vaccinations, including boosters, for immunocompromised patients (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, COVID-19).
