Job description

Metro Infusion Center (affiliated with Metro Infectious Disease Consultants) is seeking an Infusion Nurse Practitioner to work on a part-time basis in the clinic located in Brookfield, WI.

Ideal candidates will have excellent IV skills (PICC certification preferred, but not required). This position offers high-tech infusion nursing in an office setting with competitive pay.

Schedule: 2 days (16 hours)/week (flexible days)

Responsibilities:
  1. Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy, with ongoing assessment of IV sites.
  2. Access and maintain PICC line catheters and manage/change PICC line dressings per protocol.
  3. Assess IV access device patency and troubleshoot issues.
  4. Address abnormal laboratory results, passing information to physicians and/or patients as needed.
  5. Prepare medications for IV administration as ordered.
  6. Administer IV therapy via electronic pump, troubleshooting alarms, or via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing.
  7. Draw laboratory specimens as ordered and prepare them for processing.
  8. Document infusion procedures and patient messages in the EMR system.
  9. Address patient questions or concerns regarding adverse effects, diagnosis, or treatment within scope of practice.
  10. Use clinical judgment to evaluate patient needs and prioritize care.
  11. Monitor safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
  12. Participate in activities promoting good communication within the facility.
  13. Cover clinics as needed per the direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations of Michigan.
  14. Adhere to professional standards, including Nursing Practice, JCAHO, state and local laws, and MIDC policies.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid APRN license.
  • At least two years of NP office practice experience, preferably in infusion-related care.
  • Infusion experience required.
  • Chemotherapy experience is preferred but not required.
  • Proof of current vaccinations, including boosters, for immunocompromised patient care (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, COVID-19).
