Job summary

Lowcountry Oncology Associates in Charleston, SC seeks an Infusion Nurse to join a compassionate outpatient oncology team. You will administer infusion therapies, monitor patient responses, and educate patients and families throughout treatment, collaborating with physicians, APPs, and staff to ensure safe, personalized care.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of infusion nursing experience, oncology office exposure, and an active SC RN license, with EMR system familiarity to support high-quality

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years infusion nurse experience preferred.
  • Experience in hematology/oncology office preferred.
  • SC RN license required.
  • Previous EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient and their families, provides blankets, snacks, and beverages.
  • Works collaboratively with Physicians and RNs to deliver chemotherapy regimens per Physician orders.
  • Practices safe administration of infusions, injections, and transfusions.
  • Takes vital signs to detect deviations and assess patient condition.
  • Participates in continuing education and department trainings.

  • Experience as an Infusion Nurse or Infusion/IV experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working in a Hematology and Oncology Office preferred
  • Previous experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system required

Lowcountry Oncology Associates is seeking an Infusion Nurse to join a team dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality cancer care in a supportive outpatient environment. In this role, you will play a vital part in the patient experience, providing infusion therapies, monitoring patient responses, and serving as a trusted source of education and support throughout treatment. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and fellow clinical staff, you will help ensure safe, efficient, and personalized care for patients facing cancer and blood disorders. Responsibilities inlcude:

  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient and their families, provides blankets, snacks, and beverages.
  • Works collaboratively with the Physicians and RN's to deliver chemotherapy regiments to patients according to Physician orders.
  • Practices safe administration of infusions, injections, and transfusions.
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
  • Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up including, but not exclusive to providers, social work, dietician, integrative medicine, pharmacy, navigators, laboratory, radiation therapy, genetics, and clinical research.
  • Assists with administering shots and phlebotomy as required.
  • Reviews all chemotherapy regiments before delivering to patients.
  • Put away medical and supply stock as delivered.
  • Check infusion regiments for accuracy, communicate to the clinical care team regarding any concerns.
  • Participates in continuing education, in service and department trainings as required.
  • Manage a caseload of patients receiving a variety of infusion therapies on an outpatient basis.
  • Practice patient confidentiality at all times including abiding by HIPPA requirements.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned to help drive our mission of delivering high-quality and compassionate cancer care in our community, for our community, and by oncologists who live in our community.
