Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Suffolk is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our oncology/hematology clinic in person. You will assist physicians with exams, procedures, and patient care while promoting smooth patient flow.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and 1 year of experience; CMA strongly preferred. Travel between regional sites may be needed; benefits include M/D/V, Life Insurance, and 401(k).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required, preferably in a multi-physician practice.
  • CMA strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel between sites in your region, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment including exams and procedures.
  • Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e. exams, and procedures.
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limit to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures
  • May schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions and may schedule appointments to follow up on test results as needed
  • Arranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed
  • Performs other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or physician

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant to support our office located in Suffolk.

Compensation Range: $16.88 - $34.65. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
