Infusion Insurance Collection Specialist - mostly remote

Advanced Infusion Care specializes in intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous (Sub Q) immunoglobulin therapy patient care. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Accounts Receivable Medical Collection expert to join our dynamic team! This role is a full-time position responsible for collection processes for our IG division, requiring 1 day in the office per week with the rest of the week remote from home.

The ideal candidate should have Physician Office Infusion Experience, outstanding communication skills, an in-depth knowledge of collection practices, and the ability to work in compliance with Federal and State rules, regulations, and policies related to billing and collection activities. The candidate should also understand contract analysis, reimbursement, denial management, and the appeal process. CPR certification and infusion experience are a plus.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position involves collecting payments from insurance companies, patients, or other responsible parties for medical services rendered. Responsibilities include sending out patient statements, managing manufacturer assistance plans, printing claims, and opening mail on in-office days. The role also involves working receivables for multiple payor types and reaching out to patients regarding their balances. This is a hybrid position requiring one day of work at our Dallas location, with other days remote from home.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

- 1-3 years of healthcare industry experience required.

- 1-3 years of medical billing and collections experience required.

- Home infusion and immunoglobulin experience are preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify billing accounts with accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are properly posted.
  • Make calls to troubleshoot payment discrepancies and resolve aged receivables.
  • Document all communications in detail, including phone calls, contacts, and call specifics.
  • Maximize reimbursement of claims.
  • Resolve issues causing denials within 5 days of receipt.
  • Make sound judgment calls regarding adjustments and refunds.

- Maintain knowledge of NDC numbers, infusion supplies, insurance plans, medical terminology, billing procedures, government regulations, and medical codes.

- Share knowledge with team members and collaborate effectively.

- Interact positively and respectfully with others.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
