Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at the Dallas Medical City location, supporting our Infusion department. We operate over 175 sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality cancer care using advanced technology and research, helping patients achieve "More breakthroughs. More victories." in their fight against cancer.

What does the Medical Assistant do?

Under supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care, promotes efficient patient flow, and performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and maintaining schedules. Supports adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

Essential duties include:

  • Escort patients to and from exam and treatment rooms.
  • Record patient data such as vital signs, allergies, and medication changes prior to physician visits.
  • Answer patient calls and facilitate referrals.
  • Perform administrative tasks like typing, filing, faxing, and scheduling as requested.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Medical or Nursing Assistant.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential.
  • Additional state-specific certifications may be required.

Physical Demands: Must handle physical tasks including lifting up to 40 lbs, standing, walking, and manual dexterity. Vision and hearing must be within normal range, with accommodations available if needed.

Work Environment: Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other hazards typical of an oncology/hematology clinic. Reasonable accommodations provided for disabilities.
