Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least one year of back-end software development focused on database infrastructure and cloud computing.
  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, as well as NoSQL options; experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; Docker containerization; Kubernetes orchestration; networking fundamentals; programming in Python or JavaScript; knowledge of data security and privacy best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, efficient database solutions to handle large volumes of neuroscience data while ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.
  • Build and manage cloud-based infrastructure to support storage, processing, and analysis of neuroscience data, leveraging cloud services for availability and performance.
  • Containerize applications with Docker and orchestrate them using Kubernetes within a cloud environment.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems, code, and processes, and promote best practices for software development and data management.
  • Collaborate with research teams to understand data requirements and provide technical solutions that meet their needs. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, addressing scalability, latency, and data retrieval issues.

Job Overview

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable, efficient database solutions to handle large volumes of neuroscience data while ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or equivalent experience are a plus.
  • Experience: At least one year of back‑end software development focused on database infrastructure and cloud computing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, as well as NoSQL options; experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; Docker containerization; Kubernetes orchestration; networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, firewall); programming in Python or JavaScript; knowledge of data security and privacy best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least three years of back‑end software development focused on database infrastructure and cloud computing.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; detail‑oriented with commitment to high quality.
