Job summary

Burris Logistics is seeking a Senior Engineer, Infrastructure to lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of our enterprise infrastructure across on‑premise and cloud environments. You will oversee servers, storage, networks, backup, and security, ensuring high availability and scalable IT operations.

You will collaborate with the Technology team to implement new projects, document configurations, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining rigorous uptime and reliability for business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise technologies including Fortinet, VMware, Barracuda, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Cisco networking, VoIP systems, Veeam, Windows Server, Linux, data centers, and monitoring solutions.
  • Strong systems administration, infrastructure engineering, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills; industry certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead infrastructure initiatives including new installations, upgrades, and ongoing support for servers, storage, firewalls, email systems, telecommunications, backup solutions, data centers, mobile devices, and business continuity/disaster recovery programs.
  • Evaluate, implement, and support new technologies while maintaining existing infrastructure to ensure reliable service delivery across enterprise platforms.
  • Architect, administer, document, and maintain on-premises, hosted, and cloud-based infrastructure environments in alignment with technology standards.
  • Collaborate with IT support teams and leadership to resolve operational issues, fulfill service requests, and support incident resolution activities.
  • Design, implement, and maintain monitoring and reporting solutions to ensure visibility into infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and network utilization.
  • Conduct system testing, validate infrastructure changes, and provide QA for deployed solutions.
  • Develop and maintain processes and documentation related to backups, patch management, security updates, mobile device management, data retention, and data center operations.
  • Establish and maintain infrastructure standards, governance, performance metrics, and security practices to ensure operational excellence.
  • Provide technical leadership, create and maintain system documentation, support special projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

The Senior Engineer, Infrastructure position is core to the implementation and support of all infrastructure including servers, storage, email, telecom, backup, and data centers both on premise and external, network, servers both physical and virtual, storage, firewalls, email, security, mobile devices, back-ups, business continuity / disaster recovery, operations automation, and documentation.

This position will work closely with the entire Technology team and serve as the lead for the infrastructure group on Technology and company technology projects Working in a team, you will work to ensure our business operations continue to run by working to ensure system uptime is maintained and new projects are implemented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead infrastructure initiatives including new installations, upgrades, and ongoing support for servers, storage, firewalls, email systems, telecommunications, backup solutions, data centers, mobile devices, and business continuity/disaster recovery programs.
  • Evaluate, implement, and support new and emerging technologies while maintaining and optimizing existing infrastructure to ensure reliable service delivery across all enterprise platforms.
  • Architect, administer, document, and maintain on-premises, hosted, and cloud-based infrastructure environments in alignment with established technology standards.

  • Provide technical leadership, create and maintain system documentation, support special projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise technologies including Fortinet, VMware, Barracuda, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Cisco networking, VoIP systems, Veeam, Windows Server, Linux, data centers, and infrastructure monitoring solutions.
  • Strong systems administration, infrastructure engineering, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills; industry certifications are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, implement, and support new technologies while maintaining existing enterprise applications and infrastructure.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contribute to cross-functional initiatives, and support continuous learning and professional development.
