Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in public involvement or communications for transportation projects.
• Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders including public, staff, leadership and external partners.
• Willingness to work occasional extended hours and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Attend weekly construction progress meetings to understand issues.
• Develop and produce information deliverables (fact sheets, presentations, graphics).
• Collaborate with project managers to identify and manage construction information.
• Respond to toll inquiries via phone and written correspondence.
• Serve as liaison between Turnpike projects and the community in active construction zones.
• Plan and implement public outreach campaigns before construction starts.
• Coordinate mass mailers related to projects.
• Research and resolve issues related to Construction, Maintenance, and Traffic operations.
• Draft responses and obtain approvals for media requests and elected official inquiries.
• Promote Turnpike programs with media, civic groups and stakeholders.
• Coordinate public meetings with neighborhood groups and Turnpike stakeholders.
• Create educational and promotional materials for meetings and conferences.
• Organize events such as groundbreakings and open ceremonies.
