Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an IT Infrastructure Migration Engineer to plan, engineer, and deliver modernization across practice locations. This hands-on role covers data center migrations, legacy email moves, and remote-site backups, with focus on minimizing downtime and preserving data integrity.

The candidate will lead from assessment to handoff, working with VMware/Hyper‑V/KVM, Exchange/M365, and Synology-based backup/protection solutions, while coordinating across IT teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in IT or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience performing physical-to-virtual migrations at scale across Windows and Linux.
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, KVM, or equivalents.
• Experience with Exchange/M365 mail flow DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, Autodiscover).
• Proficiency with mailbox migration tools like vCenter Converter, Zerto, StarWind, or similar.
• Experience designing backup solutions for remote/distributed locations (Synology Active Backup).
• Understanding of SAN/NAS/RAID/LUNs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, IPsec, and networking basics.
• End-to-end infra projects: assessment, design, testing, implementation, validation, handoff.
• Scripting or automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration and modernization projects from discovery through post-cutover support.
• Assess legacy email/servers/storage and identify end-of-life risks.
• Perform mailbox, calendar, public folder, PST, and archive migrations as needed.
• Plan mail flow changes and DNS updates for controlled cutovers.
• Design, test, and execute physical-to-virtual migrations to VMware/Hyper‑V/KVM.
• Use approved migration and protection tools for data center and remote sites.
• Define backup architecture, schedules, retention, and recovery procedures.
• Coordinate replication, data seeding, bandwidth, and post-migration backup transition.
• Maintain records of migrations, configurations, dependencies, and topology changes.
