The City of Corpus Christi seeks an experienced leader to oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of its water distribution and wastewater systems, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted service.
This exempt, full-time role directs staff, manages annual budgets and the Capital Improvement Program, coordinates with regulatory agencies, and supports major projects and CIP planning.
A valid Texas driver's license is required within 90 days of hire.
This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City's 1,700 miles of water distribution piping, 1,400 miles of wastewater collection piping, and 100,000 service points. The position ensures the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of these systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements established by TCEQ, EPA, and AWWA. Responsibilities include overseeing water and wastewater infrastructure installation and repair, automated meter reading (AMR) systems, metering, system inspections, customer service response, and preventative maintenance. The position also provides technical and administrative support for budget preparation, Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) development, resource management, and major project oversight, while collaborating with City staff and regulatory agencies.
Exempt – Full-Time – 40-hour work week
Must be available to work additional hours as needed
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
Six (6) years of experience
A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring.
TCEQ Class B Water Operator or Distribution license
Wastewater Collection Ill or Wastewater Operator B license
