Job summary

Easton Utilities is seeking an Infrastructure Locator I to inform the public and contractors about underground facilities before planned or emergency excavation. This is a full-time, non-exempt role in Easton, MD with on-call duties.

Responsibilities include locating utilities, coordinating with the Locating Team, and updating maps with AutoCAD/ESRI. Requires a high school diploma, 3+ years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an Apprentice Infrastructure Locator or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must reside within a 30-mile radius of Easton with a maximum of 60 minutes between the initial call and arrival on-site.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate underground facilities prior to planned or emergency excavation.
• Identify and mark electric, gas, water and sewer, communications, and storm drains per each location request.
• Coordinate with Locating Team to clear each request from Miss Utility.
• Update distribution maps and records using AutoCAD and ESRI sketches.
• Assist the Engineering Department staff with any engineering functions as requested.
• Regular, reliable attendance is required.

Infrastructure Locator Field Supervisor

JOB OBJECTIVE

To inform members of the public, contractors, utilities, locators, and other persons or entities who would be involved in planned or emergency excavation regarding underground facility identification. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an Apprentice Infrastructure Locator or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Maryland’s utility locating legislative laws and all the Easton Utilities utility distribution systems.
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Knowledge of utility and roadway construction and Easton Utilities mapping systems.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Regular on-call duty required. Must reside within a 30-mile radius of Easton with a maximum of 60 minutes between the initial call and arrival on-site.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Must have high school diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years of related experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Driving, bending, walking long distances, digging, lifting up to 100lbs, climbing steps, and the physical use of all locating equipment. Must follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE at all times. Must have physical ability to frequently ingress underground manholes and vaults.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assist the Engineering Department staff with any engineering functions as requested
• Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job
