Job summary

The City of Siloam Springs is seeking an Operator I to operate dump trucks and mowing equipment for water and sewer mains and street construction. The role includes city street repairs, signage, and drainage maintenance.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, safety compliance, on-call duties, and assisting with storm drains, curbs, gutters, and pavement work. A valid driver’s license is required, with CDL purchase required within 12 months of employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license; must obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months of employment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; write routine reports; speak effectively.
• Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide; compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Responsibilities

• Operate dump trucks and mowing equipment for water/sewer mains and street construction.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on equipment; report defects.
• Provide good customer service to internal and external customers and maintain positive relationships.
• Respond to weather or on-call duties; apply sand/ice melt and remove sand when conditions improve.
• Install storm drains, curbs, gutters, pavement; lay and backfill; operate related tools.
