Northstrat is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain our enterprise infrastructure. This role combines advanced Cisco networking and security expertise with strong Linux systems administration experience. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, security-focused, and comfortable operating in a hybrid on‑premises and cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

Network Engineering Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure.

• Configure And Support
• Cisco routers and switches
• Cisco ASA and/or Firepower firewalls
• Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine)
• Manage VLANs, routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP), and switching technologies
• Implement and maintain site‑to‑site and remote access VPNs
• Maintain network segmentation and security controls
• Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Monitor network health and performance using SNMP and other tools
• Troubleshoot complex Layer 2/3 connectivity issues
• Implement and enforce network security best practices
• Maintain firewall policies and intrusion prevention system

Linux Systems Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Manage system services, patching, and updates
• Automate tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible
• Manage system backups and disaster recovery procedures
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues

Requirements

• Must have a current and active DoD TS/SCI clearance
• CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) or better is required
• At least 5+ years of experience in network engineering and systems administration

Strong Hands-on Experience With Cisco Networking Equipment Is Required

• Experience with Cisco ASA or Firepower security appliances
• Must have a deep understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, and switching
• Strong Linux administration experience in production environments
• Experience with virtualization platforms
• Knowledge of network security principles and best practices
• Ability to troubleshoot across network and system layers

Preferred Qualifications Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Or Better

• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet)
• Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash)

• Flex Time Northstrat does not mandate specific working hours. Although project requirements may dictate schedules, a Northstrat employee is only required to work an average of 8 hours per weekday over the course of a month. For example: John worked 12 hours on June 1st to meet a project deadline. On June 15th, John only worked 4 hours because he left early for a long weekend. John’s IBA was not debited for time off because flex time allowed him to carry over those 4 hours from June 1st.
• Individual Benefits Account (IBA) To attract and retain the highest quality staff, Northstrat provides a unique and versatile benefits package, the Individual Benefit Account (IBA), which places the power of choice in the hands of our greatest asset - the employee. The purpose of the IBA is to provide attractive benefits to all full-time employees of Northstrat on a flexible basis that enables each covered employee to select a package that best suits his or her needs. • Profit Sharing Plan (PSP) The PSP is a qualified retirement plan that Northstrat funds quarterly on the employee’s behalf through the IBA in the amount equivalent to 25% (up to the IRS contribution limit) of the employee’s compensation. That is, of the 50% accrual in the IBA, half of the amount accrued is applied to the PSP.
• Stock Options Because Northstrat is an employee-owned company, all new employees are offered stock options. Employees have the opportunity to receive additional stock options based on accomplishment of individual performance goals. Stock owners elect the Board of Directors and are directly impacted by the success of the company.
