Job summary

SiXworks is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and deliver secure digital solutions in highly secure environments. You will join a team delivering critical operations for Defence and National Security missions, based in Somerset.

You will work with Cisco Nexus, NetApp ONTAP, Hyper-V, and VMware Cloud Foundation to create reliable, scalable infrastructure while enforcing strong security controls and data protection.

Qualifications

• Experience with Cisco Nexus and NetApp ONTAP in secure environments.
• Experience deploying Hyper-V in a high-availability, high-security configuration.
• Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
• Familiarity with hardware cryptographic systems (HSM/KMS).
• Experience with Windows Server 2022/2025.

• Configure and harden network and storage components for performance and security.

We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.

What You’ll Do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help design, build, and deliver secure digital solutions in highly secure environments. You’ll work alongside engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to develop technology that enables faster, safer decision-making for critical operations.

Your work may include:

• Fabric Underlay:Configure and hardenCisco Nexus Leaf/Spinearchitectures to support high-throughput, low-latency traffic.
• Enterprise Storage:Initialize and presentNetAppstorage arrays, ensuring data-at-rest encryption is strictly enforced.
• Infrastructure Virtualisation:Build and harden aHyper-Vcluster to host core services (AD/DNS/PKI).
• VMware VCF Integration: Assist in the enablement and integration of a VMware private cloud environment
• Hardware Security:Initialise and manageHSM/KMSappliances, leading the "Key Ceremonies" required for a high-assurance environment.
• Physical Build:Execute professional rack-and-stack and secure cabling in accordance with high-physical-security standards (e.g. SCIDA).

What We’re Looking For

We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:

• Hands-on expertise withCisco Nexus (or equivalent)andNetApp ONTAP (or equivalent).
• Experience deployingHyper-Vin a high-availability, high-security configuration.
• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (e.g. VCF 5+)
• Familiarity with hardware-based cryptographic systems (HSM/KMS).
• Experience with Windows Server 2022/2025
