Job description

SONIFI is known around the world as the best guest technology provider in hospitality, and it’s all because of the people behind the technology. For more than 45 years, SONIFI has been where employees thrive on collaboration and curiosity, helping hotels solve challenges with patented innovations that shape technology experiences for staff, guests, and the best companies in the industry. For the next step in your career, it’s time to set a new standard with SONIFI.

Bring your technical expertise together with customer consultation and implementation to design the physical network infrastructure behind technology experiences in hospitality environments. We’re looking for a home-based Infrastructure Engineer whose primary focus will be designing low-voltage hybrid infrastructure for RF, fiber, and Ethernet solutions.

Working closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams, you’ll provide technical expertise to SONIFI’s Sales teams and customers, develop network topology documentation for proposed designs, and help bridge technical communication between Sales, Implementation, and customers. You’ll use customer interactions and technical knowledge to develop solutions for challenging technical sales opportunities, unique customer environments, and SONIFI implementations.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Implementation Services, you’ll combine low-voltage infrastructure design, customer-facing consultation, technical expertise, and an understanding of implementation processes to develop solutions that can be successfully deployed and supported in real-world hospitality environments.

  • Design low-voltage hybrid infrastructure for RF, fiber, and Ethernet solutions, including developing network topology documentation that clearly communicates proposed designs, system connectivity, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Support SONIFI Sales and Implementation activities from a technical perspective by conducting site surveys and survey assessments at customer locations, evaluating site-specific environments, and helping determine the optimal delivery and support approach for SONIFI solutions.
  • Address customer technical questions and participate in the development of Scope of Work documents and requirements. Provide guidance and recommendations regarding technology selection, networking requirements, cabling infrastructure, and compatibility between SONIFI products and property technology specifications.
  • Identify and present key technical value propositions to customers and, in partnership with Sales and Sales Engineering, translate technical capabilities into ancillary sales opportunities where appropriate. Educate current and prospective customers on how SONIFI solutions function and represent SONIFI through written communication, phone conversations, and public presentations.
  • Support Operations by bridging communication between Sales and Implementation teams around technical requirements for system implementations, coordinating the resolution of unique customer issues as needed, and providing technical skills and knowledge across Operations. Collaborate with Engineering, Training, Technical Writing, and other internal departments to support knowledge transfer, discuss technologies, document solutions, and strengthen SONIFI’s ability to successfully implement and support its technology.
  • Independently analyze complex and unique technical or business issues that could prevent projects or tasks from being completed within desired timelines. Apply technical experience and expertise to recommend and implement solutions, set priorities, define project-specific tasks, and develop strategies while communicating risks, issues, and recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Remain current on advanced and emerging technologies through professional groups, interaction with industry professionals, internal and external training, independent research, study, and other available resources. Serve as a champion of learning, process improvement, and project management while providing mentorship, work direction, training, and task management to associated team members without direct supervisory responsibility.

This position requires extensive travel of up to 50% for customer site surveys, customer meetings, and sales collaboration. Travel may include car, truck, van, and air transportation.

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and two years of related experience; an associate’s degree in Business or a related field plus four years of related experience; or six years of related experience. In addition, a minimum of four years of related enterprise technology implementation project management experience is required. Hospitality technology experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of low-voltage network infrastructure, including RF, fiber, Ethernet, IP technologies, and networking principles, with the ability to understand complex technical system interactions and develop topology documentation for infrastructure designs.
  • Familiarity with systems commonly found in hotel environments, including Property Management Systems, Guest WiFi, Guest Room Entertainment, and other property technologies. Experience with Gigabit Home Networking (G.hn) over coax is preferred.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and adherence to timelines, with the ability to independently analyze complex technical and business needs, identify issues, recommend solutions, and manage priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer relationship skills. You should be a natural relationship builder who demonstrates integrity, reliability, and maturity and can work effectively with SONIFI employees, customers, and third-party personnel at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams. Experience using project management techniques and software applications is required, and prior experience managing simultaneous projects is preferred. A general understanding of interactive media systems and/or IP systems is also preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required. Experience with Salesforce and NetSuite is preferred. You’ll need to be self-motivated, thrive in a results-driven environment, and bring a high-energy, can-do approach with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.

The position operates with significant independence and makes daily decisions without direct supervision. You’ll define the scope of tasks associated with specific projects, establish priorities, develop strategies, and implement solutions according to deadlines and requests from corporate management.

This is a home-based position that also requires work at customer and hotel locations. At times, you may encounter temperature extremes, dust, dirt, high noise levels, heights, hand and power tools, and RF, IP, and AC circuitry. The position involves light physical activity associated with an office environment, medium activity associated with travel and driving, and infrequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Together, we can build your future!

We offer a competitive compensation package including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off (PTO), flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, pet insurance, and on-demand pay. Compensation for this position generally starts at $80,000 to $120,000 annually and varies based on experience, education, specialty, training, and geographic location.
