Description of specific Duties in a typical workday for this position:

This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and administration of the IT infrastructure and the systems supporting it. On an on-going basis, this position will design infrastructure components, maintain and monitor systems and applications, and identify root causes of operational issues in order to resolve them. This individual will also mentor and provide guidance to the Systems Engineer staff.

Required Skills

• Must be US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
• 10+ years of experience in Microsoft systems administration/engineering.
• Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems
• for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Technical knowledge and experience with application security, content filtering, network protocols, access control, encryption, and 2 factor authentication technologies
• Excellent communications, teamwork, leadership, and conflict management skills
• Committed to continuous learning in order to stay up-to-date with technological developments and changes
• Responsible for translating business requirements into IT infrastructure solutions while taking into account the constraints imposed by the existing systems and architectures
• Ensure that the infrastructure architecture aligns with the roadmaps established by the organization’s enterprise architecture
• Lead the design and management of network topologies and the adoption and configuration of networking protocols
• Extensive experience in network infrastructure design and management, TCP/IP protocol suite, MS Active Directory and DNS configuration, web server and mail server configuration
• Experience with selecting and implementing network communications security and integrity solutions, such as PKI, virtual private networking, authentication and authorization protocols (Kerberos, …), firewalls, NAT, ...
• Understanding of Cloud Computing paradigms (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
• Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery
• processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Experience assessing and hardening security configurations for operating systems, applications and services
• Hands-on experience with implementing a virtualization platform (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.)
• Must have experience designing and implementing solutions and systems to solve complex IT problems.
• Strong working knowledge of creating and managing GPO
• Understanding of high availability hardware and database systems design and implementation including cluster management, redundancy and failover testing
• Knowledge of storage systems (SAN, NAS, etc.)
• Ability to produce system documentation, including writing requirements, operational specifications, system architecture, test plans and as-built documentation, all with attention to detail

Daily Operational Duties:

• Manages system security, Nessus scans, patching, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Experience with Shavlik patch management.
• Experience with Symantec Backup Exec and Symantec Endpoint Protection.
• Strong understanding of FISMA and NIST requirements and how they apply to an incident response team.
• Strong understanding of root causes of malware infections and proactive mitigation.
• Monitor events generated by network devices and servers.
• Works with other engineers to design and implement new systems and processes.
• Building and configuring Microsoft Server 2012
• Building and configuring servers via VMWare
• Monitor the BMC (ticketing system) and make sure that the team are met with SLAs
• Carry out in-depth research to reveal new and better methods of handling functions within the IT team
• Have in-depth knowledge of management goals and visions and work in line with team members to achieve them

Qualifications

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of SharePoint farm architectures and SharePoint 2010 administration
• Experience with MS SQL Server administration
• Experience with Cisco switches and Firewalls
• VMWare certification
