Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking an Infrastructure Cloud Architect (SC Cleared) for a contract role in Reading, with a daily rate of £700–£750 inside IR35. The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for SECRET-tier hosting in a highly secure environment, delivering firsthand architecture and designs.

Requirements include 15+ years in data centre, infrastructure, or cloud architecture, active UK SC clearance, and sole UK nationality.

Infrastructure Cloud Architect (SC Cleared)

Location: Reading - 1 day per week in the office
Rate: £700-£750 per day inside IR35
Clearance: Active SC clearance required

We are looking for an experienced Secret Data Centre / Infrastructure / Cloud Architect to act as the technical authority for SECRET-tier hosting within a highly secure environment.

This is a hands-on architecture role for a genuine doer, not an advisory, assurance or review-and-recommend position. You will need to demonstrate recent, specific examples of classified environments that you personally designed and delivered, including producing the technical designs yourself.

Key requirements

• 15+ years' experience in data centre, infrastructure and/or cloud architecture.
• Active UK SC clearance is essential.
• Sole UK national as a minimum requirement.
• Proven experience designing and delivering a SECRET-classified environment end to end.
• Strong experience across data centre, infrastructure and cloud architecture.
• Must have personally produced the architecture and technical designs - candidates whose experience is primarily advisory, assurance, governance or review-and-recommendation will not be considered.
• Demonstrable experience taking secure infrastructure designs from concept through to implementation and delivery.
• Strong understanding of the technical, security and operational considerations associated with SECRET-tier hosting.
• Recent UK Defence, MOD or major UK Prime experience is highly desirable.

What we're looking for

We need someone who can get into the detail and demonstrate what they have personally designed and delivered.

• The SECRET environment they designed.
• Their specific personal contribution to the architecture and technical design.
• The infrastructure, data centre and/or cloud technologies involved.
• How the environment was delivered and implemented.
• The security and architectural challenges they addressed.

Important

Candidates who do not hold active SC clearance and meet the sole UK national requirement will not be considered.

Profiles focused primarily on advisory, assurance, governance or review-and-recommendation activities will be rejected. We are specifically looking for someone who has personally designed and delivered SECRET-tier environments.
