A leading company in infrastructure seeks an experienced construction cost estimator to manage and enhance project cost estimating. This position calls for 10 years of professional experience along with a degree in architecture or engineering. Success in this role includes managing budgets effectively, working onsite with clients, and leading negotiations to ensure project efficiency.

THE WORK:
+ You'll plan, lead, and contribute to construction cost estimating for buildings and infrastructure projects.
+ You'll prepare and review estimates and documents for securing state/federal funding and represent the District in related matters.
+ You'll evaluate and compare architect/engineer-submitted estimates with District estimates for accuracy and completeness.
+ You'll coordinate with design professionals to reconcile cost estimate discrepancies and negotiate preliminary project costs.
+ You'll analyze contractor bids, especially when they significantly differ from established estimates, and prepare related reports.
+ You'll review and advise on contractor cost breakdowns to support or challenge progress payment requests.
+ You'll review and decide on change orders, including additional charges or credits, during construction.
+ You'll prepare independent cost estimates for comparison with contractor submissions to support negotiations.
+ You'll establish and oversee the plan/spec approval process and public bidding procedures for building projects.
+ You'll develop systems to track and compare estimated vs. actual construction costs using records and visual data tools.
+ You'll lead and participate in workshops for staff and minority contractors about bidding, contracts, and estimating.
+ You'll estimate repair costs from damage caused by fires, disasters, or vandalism and sets project budgets.
+ You'll support related functions including change order evaluations, price negotiations, claim analysis, and proposal reviews.
+ Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
$170,181 - $187,200 a year
Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, or Washington as set forth below. We accept applications on an on-going basis and there is no fixed deadline to apply.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
+ 10 years full time paid professional experience in the preparation of complete cost estimates for type I, II, or III, and V building construction as defined by the State building code, including two years in a supervisory capacity
+ Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction management
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
+ Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs
+ Extensive experience in developing and estimating the scope of work for change orders
+ Ability to compare the independent cost estimate with contractor proposal to quickly identify differences
+ Ability to develop scope of work based on RFI/RFC answers and estimates the detailed costs of those scopes of work independent of the contractor proposal
+ Good oral and written communications skills
