Job summary

Accenture Infrastructure & Capital Projects is seeking a licensed California Professional Engineer to lead highway construction inspection for Caltrans projects onsite with clients in California. You will ensure quality, coordinate with contractors and utilities, and support project delivery across major public works.

This role requires 8+ years in roadway inspection, knowledge of stress analysis and materials, and ability to supervise inspectors.

Qualifications

  • Licensed professional engineer required in California.
  • Minimum 8 years’ roadway/highway inspection experience on major public works projects.
  • Experience with stress analysis, structural mechanics and materials (concrete/steel).
  • Experience with toll road projects and tolling systems.
  • Ability to lead and direct inspectors; strong independent worker.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with contractors and utilities.
  • Proven record of maintaining project documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inspection and quality assurance on highway and roadway construction projects for Caltrans and client projects.
  • Determine if completed work follows plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate work with contractor and public utilities agencies.
  • Maintain project records and reports.
  • Coordinate with general contractor and negotiate change orders.
  • Inspect to assure compliance with contract plans, specs, and provisions on bridges, foundations, walls, falsework, shoring, and drainage structures.
  • Make or support grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring calculations.
  • Prepare contract change orders, estimates, and progress pay documents; coordinate material sampling/testing.
  • Monitor contractor progress and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports.
  • Onsite presence at client site to support delivery and client relationships.

  • You’ll assist in inspections to assure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and special provisions on all phases of structural construction such as bridges, foundations, walls, falsework, shoring, and drainage structures.
  • You’ll make or support grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring calculations.
  • You’ll assist in the preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required for the project. Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials to monitor compliance with contract specifications.
  • You’ll monitor and track contractor progress, prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • You’ll coordinate with the project team, as well as the Construction Staking and Material Testing CMCs.
  • Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
  • With all our roles, there is some in-person time for collaboration, learning and building relationships with clients, peers, leaders and communities. As an employer, we will be as flexible as possible to support your specific work/life needs.
Qualifications
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California.
  • Minimum 1 construction highway project for or on Caltrans.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience conducting roadway and highway construction inspection in major public works projects.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with physical characteristics and properties of various roadway and bridge construction materials including concrete and steel.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform duties in the construction field office and effectively make decisions concerning construction work in progress and solving field problems.
  • Ability to direct the efforts of subordinate inspectors.
  • Expertise in toll road projects including tolling systems (e.g., overhead gantries, cameras, in-pavement vehicle detection loops, etc.).
