Job summary

CarMax is seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist to join the Technology department. The role focuses on managing and optimizing both on-prem and cloud infrastructure to support customer-facing applications.

You will mentor engineers, lead in cloud and on-prem deployments, and shape infrastructure patterns and guidance. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and hands-on experience with Linux administration, Ansible, and Git.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technology field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of work experience.
• Experience in Linux system administration, preferably Red Hat.
• Basic experience with Ansible and Git.
• Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite or similar lifecycle management platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and build self-service capabilities and automation to enable internal customers to move quickly.
• Collaborate with design, product management, and systems architecture to develop experimental solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and influence direction within an agile environment.
• Consult with internal customers and evolve the platform and its operations.
• Stay updated on industry trends to continuously improve customer experience.
