Job summary

CarMax in Plano, TX is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our Technology department. You will manage and optimize our cloud and on-prem infrastructure to support customer-facing applications, mentor engineers, and contribute to architecture decisions in an agile environment.

The role requires Linux administration, Ansible, and experience with Red Hat Satellite, plus strong communication and documentation.

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our dynamic Technology department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT infrastructure and server management, with an understanding of both physical and virtual environments. Purpose of the role

It takes a passion for technology to develop and iterate on innovative solutions to problems. You will partner with Engineers, Architects and Leaders in product and technology to influence the direction for the organization as we establish the patterns, guidance and design for building and deploying cloud and on-prem infrastructure to support our customer facing applications. You will be a technical mentor to other Engineers and serve as an expert in supporting multiple areas of the Business. You should have strong communications skills, a strong sense of ownership, a passion for customer service, and a deep technical understanding of how the cloud platform can contribute to the overall success of our application development.

Qualifications And Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related Technology field or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of work experience

• Experience in Linux system administration, preferably Red Hat.
• Basic experience with Ansible and Git.
• Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite or similar lifecycle management platforms.

Preferred Certifications

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

Work Location and Arrangement

Plano: This role will be based out of the CarMax Dallas Tech Hub (Plano, TX) and associates will work onsite 2 days per week

The Annual Salary For This Position Is

$92,200.00 - $138,300.00

May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates That Are Considered Full-time Hourly Or Commission/incentive Eligible

• To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
• For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
