What we are looking for

The power sector is undergoing its biggest transformation in a century, and legacy tools were not made to handle this level of complexity.Equilibrium is building a new kind of power companythat can work with an increasingly intricate energy mix, manage large fleets of resources, and integrate algorithmic and human decision-making with sophisticated insights coming from every part of the stack.We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure and Security Engineer to shape and scale this vision, creating the intelligent backbone to power a resilient grid.

What you will do

You will be a member of EQ’s Digital Services team. Our mission is to make our internal users (EQ Engineers and Scientists) and external users (EQ's enterprise customers), productive, happy, and secure by empowering them with a Digital Platform. Our central position within EQ means our actions often have large leverage across technical and non-technical teams at EQ.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define, design, develop, and deploy EQ's Digital Platform
  • Manage our AWS-centric system using Terraform
  • Mature and harden our Kubernetes-based runtime environment
  • Monitor, triage, and address security vulnerabilities across our system
  • Manage authorization and access requests
  • Share on-call responsibilities with the rest of your team
  • Embrace Gen AI tools to help you work better and faster
  • Leave your mark. Develop informed, opinionated idea on how things should be, earn buy in from others, and make then them real.
The minimum qualifications you’ll need
  • Demonstrated passion for clean energy initiatives and combating climate change.
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience withKubernetes or other containerized workload platforms.
  • Strong practical knowledge of AWS cloud technologies, including IAM, EKS, RDS, and EC2.
  • Proficiency in software development, with a preference for Python.
  • Familiarity with Security/Compliance audit process (ie SOC 2)
  • Experience with automated deployment and orchestration tools like CI/CD pipelines, Gitlab / Github, and Docker.
  • Strong inclination towards automation, DevOps methodologies, and fostering collaborative environments, incorporating operational excellence and development best practices.
  • Ability to seamlessly integrate into cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving work methodologies.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies or a willingness to learn and apply them effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Nice to have additional skills
  • Experience managing Postgres or Databricks at scale.
  • Experience implementing test-build-deploy pipelines with Pants V2
