Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in San Francisco, CA, is seeking an Infrastructure Accounting Lead for a hybrid role with in-office expectations four days per week. This hands-on position combines operational accounting, fixed assets, technical accounting, and process automation while partnering with Finance, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Legal to build scalable accounting processes.

The ideal candidate has CPA preferred status, 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, deep U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting and operational accounting.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, including cost classification, capitalization, fixed assets, and lease accounting.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting for technology infrastructure costs, including usage-based services and hosting arrangements.
• Review contracts, invoices, usage data, prepayments, deposits, and other information for accurate accounting.
• Manage fixed asset accounting for infrastructure equipment, including depreciation and disposals.
• Determine proper cost classifications across revenue, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Streamline month-end close with journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Partner with Engineering/Operations/Procurement/Finance to improve accuracy of spending and data.
• Review hosting agreements for lease and technical accounting considerations.
• Build automated workflows to reduce manual work and improve reporting visibility.
• Maintain audit-ready policies and support external audits.
• Support ERP implementations involving infrastructure costs and data flows.

Education

Job Description:

This hands-on role will combine operational accounting, fixed assets, technical accounting, financial close, and process automation while partnering closely with Finance, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Legal. The ideal candidate is systems-oriented, comfortable working with complex usage and vendor data, and excited to build scalable accounting processes in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Own accounting for technology infrastructure costs, including usage-based services, hosting arrangements, capacity commitments, and related vendor spend
• Review contracts, invoices, usage data, prepayments, deposits, and other supporting information to ensure accurate accounting and reporting
• Manage fixed asset accounting for infrastructure equipment, including capitalization, useful lives, depreciation, disposals, and impairment considerations
• Determine appropriate classification of infrastructure costs across cost of revenue, operating expenses, and capital expenditures
• Streamline month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting documentation
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to improve the accuracy of infrastructure spending and operational data
• Review complex infrastructure and hosting agreements for lease and other technical accounting considerations
• Build automated, systems-driven workflows to reduce manual accounting work and improve scalability, accuracy, and reporting visibility
• Maintain audit-ready accounting policies and documentation and support external audit requests
• Support ERP implementation and finance systems initiatives involving infrastructure costs, data flows, and account structures

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting and operational accounting experience
• Experience accounting for technology infrastructure, cloud services, fixed assets, capital expenditures, or another complex and capital-intensive cost environment
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including cost classification, capitalization, fixed assets, and lease accounting considerations
• Strong systems, data-analysis, communication, and automation capabilities with the ability to independently build scalable accounting processes in a high-growth environment
