Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a researcher/engineer to design and model microbolometer detectors for next‑generation infrared sensing. You will build analytical and finite‑element models, design experiments, and compare results to improve yield and performance in a mixed office and clean room environment.

The role involves collaboration with process engineers and test teams, requiring strong data analysis, technical communication, and experience with modeling tools. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical discipline required.
  • 2+ years of related experience desired.
  • Proficient computer skills – Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
  • Strong data analysis skills (fluency in Excel, MATLAB, JMP, Python, SQL, or equivalent a plus).
  • Experience with a finite‑element modeling tools is desired: COMSOL or other.
  • Experience with SEMulator3d is a plus.
  • Ability to use test and inspection equipment (microscopes, FIB/SEM, interferometers) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build microbolometer models for analytical solving or for finite‑element tools.
  • Design and execute experiments, analyze data, draw conclusions, document, and communicate results.
  • Evaluate new microbolometer designs for performance and potential yield.
  • Evaluate production yield challenges and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with process engineers, research technicians, and test engineers to participate in overall product R&D cycle.
