Are you someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, automating infrastructure, and making systems smarter, faster, and more reliable? Do you have a home or cloud lab where you experiment with new tools, build scripts, or automate everyday tasks just for fun? If you thrive in environments that value curiosity, continuous improvement, and collaboration, we would love to meet you.

The FSU College of Medicine Office of Information Technology is hiring an InfraOps Reliability Admin to help design, build, and optimize hybrid cloud infrastructure across twelve geographically dispersed sites. This role is part of a collaborative team that embraces automation as a mindset, not just a task, and uses data-informed decisions to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Automate infrastructure and configuration provisioning, validation, and remediation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell, with version control using Git and development in Visual Studio Code
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab, including automated validation and security testing
  • Use workflow automation platforms and robotic process automation (RPA) tools, such as Microsoft Power Automate and Azure Automation, to reduce operational overhead and accelerate delivery
  • Manage and optimize Windows and Linux servers in a hybrid cloud environment, using virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V or VMware, including Active Directory support
  • Write, debug, and maintain infrastructure and configuration automation scripts in PowerShell, with familiarity in Python or Bash as a major value add
  • Use observability tools such as Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Datadog to ingest data, monitor systems, build dashboards and alerts, and support performance tuning and incident response
  • Work with next-generation firewalls and enterprise-grade network equipment from vendors such as Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Arista, and Brocade
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects, from launching new remote locations to automating business processes, while prioritizing high-value work and ensuring long-term maintainability through documentation and repeatable processes
  • Create technical diagrams and documentation to support operational clarity and team knowledge sharing
  • Demonstrate strong system design and code writing skills that reflect thoughtful architecture and maintainability

What We Value:

  • Technical curiosity and self-directed learning
  • The ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly and adapt in fast-paced environments
  • A culture of rapid experimentation, where data from each iteration informs decisions and drives improvement
  • Clear communication, whether writing documentation, contributing in team meetings, or explaining complex technical ideas
  • Professional development is an expectation, with encouragement to pursue training and certifications that align with your interests. We support your growth with access to paid learning platforms, certification bonuses, and opportunities for training and conferences.

Preferred Experience:

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell, with Git-based version control
  • PowerShell scripting, with the ability to write, debug, and maintain scripts independently or with tools like GitHub Copilot
  • CI/CD pipeline development and troubleshooting using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Experience applying DevOps principles to align people, processes, and technology in support of collaboration, streamlined delivery, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Understanding of secure-by-design and zero trust principles, with experience applying secure configurations in operational environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across network, OS, and application layers, including writing and debugging firewall rules and working with switches and wireless access points

The Team’s Perspective:

"What I enjoy about working at the FSU College of Medicine is the combination of a supportive team culture and a well-rounded technology stack that keeps our work both engaging and impactful. We are empowered to make decisions that drive progress quickly, which fosters a strong sense of ownership and momentum. The organization also promotes a healthy work-life balance and provides meaningful opportunities for continuous learning and growth."

"I appreciate working for a department where I feel heard. I truly believe that this is a workplace where we can all contribute and our unique perspectives are considered, not dampened—making it a great place to grow together and develop new, cutting-edge skills."

"Med OIT is a cooperative environment with a focus on continuous improvement and producing results."

Why This Role Matters:

This is a high-impact position where your work supports clinicians caring for patients today, researchers working to improve health outcomes in the future, and students preparing to serve in clinical settings after graduation.

You will have the opportunity to shape infrastructure strategy, contribute to architectural decisions, and lead automation efforts that improve reliability and efficiency. Whether you are already working in an InfraOps or SRE role, or you are a systems administrator ready to take the next step, we encourage you to apply.
