Responsibilities

Technology is constantly changing, and our adversaries are digitally exceeding law enforcement's ability to keep pace. Those charged with protecting the United States rely on Peraton for technical tools and resources to bring criminals to justice. We are seeking an Informational Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) with expertise in user interface development to support our law enforcement mission-critical applications, including obtaining and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO). The ISSE will collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise and support the latest security initiatives.

Major Duties:
  1. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure security engineering initiatives align with operational needs.
  2. Interact with technical leads, developers, and system owners to ensure ATO security packages adhere to FISMA and NIST guidelines.
  3. Provide security artifacts and evidence for system security control questions.
  4. Review security audit logs and take corrective actions as needed.
  5. Perform security monitoring and evaluation, including audits, control assessments, and creating security alerts using tools like Splunk or Defender for Cloud.
  6. Update technical security guides and diagrams for mission-critical systems.
  7. Stay informed on the latest security trends and technologies, and demonstrate how they can support operational needs and future strategies.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with 10+ years of experience; or Bachelor's degree with 8+ years; or Master's degree with 6+ years; or 3 years with PhD. Additional relevant experience or training can substitute for a degree.
  • Current/active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and ability to obtain a polygraph.
  • Extensive experience in security systems engineering.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of Linux (RHEL7/8) and Windows Server 2019/2022.
  • Experience creating and validating evidence for NIST controls.
  • Familiarity with log management tools like Azure EventHub and Splunk.
  • Desire to learn and improve security processes.
  • Experience with enterprise security scanning tools such as Tenable, Burp Suite, and Defender for Endpoint.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Agile environments using project sprints and Azure Boards.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud systems and Office applications.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • DOD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP).

$146,000 - $234,000, based on experience and other factors.
