Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree and 10+ years of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience; OR Master’s Degree and 6+ years of experience; OR 3 years with PhD. Four (4) years of additional relevant experience or specialized training may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- A current/active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.
- Extensive experience in security systems engineering.
- Effective collaboration skills with high-performing technical teams and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Solid communication skills, able to act as a team player across various organizational teams.
- General knowledge of Linux (RHEL7/8) and Windows Server 2019/2022.
- Experience creating and validating evidence for NIST security controls.
- Familiarity with back-end log management tools such as Azure EventHub and Splunk.
- Strong desire to learn and develop processes to enhance overall security.
- Experience with enterprise security scanning tools including Tenable, Burp Suite, and Defender for Endpoint.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in an Agile environment using project sprints and Azure Boards.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud systems and Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint and Excel.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- DOD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP).

The ISSE will support critical applications, collaborate with stakeholders, and help maintain Authorization to Operate (ATO). The role involves organizing and supporting security initiatives across the enterprise.
Major Duties:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align security initiatives with operational needs.
- Engage with technical leads, developers, and system owners to ensure security packages meet FISMA and NIST guidelines.
- Provide security artifacts and evidence for control questions.
- Review audit logs and take corrective actions.
- Perform security monitoring, audits, assessments, and create security alerts using tools like Splunk or Defender for Cloud.
- Update security guides and diagrams for mission-critical systems.
- Stay informed on the latest security trends and technology to support operational needs and future strategies.
