Job summary

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is seeking an Information Technology Subject Matter Expert to support an enterprise-level program in a federal environment. The role requires deep DoD storage, backup, and disaster recovery expertise, plus leadership of technical teams across cross-functional groups.

You will design and implement risk assessment and business continuity frameworks, oversee enterprise storage, and provide technical support for enterprise applications and automation

Qualifications

• Extensive storage & backup design across SAN/NAS/Object storage.
• Cloud storage & backup with AWS/Azure/OCI and certs.
• DoD IT systems experience (5+ years).
• Storage architecture, DR, and topology design.
• Storage networking including Fibre Channel/iSCSI/NFS/SMB.
• Cybersecurity & risk mitigation, DISA STIGs/IAVAs knowledge.
• Lead storage/data-protection projects and teams.
• Troubleshoot complex storage issues and optimize performance.
• Automation scripting for storage/backup (PowerShell/Python/Bash).
• Windows and RHEL storage management, including backups to Oracle/SQL.

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring an Information Technology Subject Matter Expert to support an enterprise-level program within a federal environment.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Information Technology Subject Matter Expert serves as an MIS Manager responsible for designing, developing, and implementing risk assessment and business continuity frameworks across a large, decentralized organization. Provides technical expertise and customer support for enterprise applications, automation solutions, open systems, and client/server environments, including multilingual, multiplatform, and multi-operating system infrastructures. Analyzes data processing and system requirements, plans system installations and upgrades, and develops applications leveraging Internet protocols and platforms. Evaluates emerging technologies and recommends solutions to meet business and operational needs. Designs, integrates, and troubleshoots network infrastructure, including routers, switches, routed networks, Frame Relay, static and dynamic routing, Ethernet and Token Ring topologies, network discovery, polling, and Cisco and 3Com technologies.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

• Enterprise storage and data protection: In-depth experience with SAN, NAS, Object Storage, Cohesity, NetBackup, NetApp, and Pure Storage.
• Cloud storage and backup: Experience with AWS S3/Glacier, Microsoft Azure Blob/Backup, OCI, and related industry certifications.
• DoD experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience supporting DoD IT systems.
• Storage architecture and disaster recovery: Minimum 3 years designing, deploying, and managing enterprise storage, storage topologies, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Storage networking: Strong knowledge of Fibre Channel/Brocade, iSCSI, FCoE, NFS, SMB/CIFS, routing, security, and backup replication networks.
• Data protection and cybersecurity: Expertise in ransomware mitigation, immutability, encryption, DISA STIGs/IAVAs, risk mitigation, and audit support.
• Project leadership: Proven ability to lead storage and data protection projects through design, implementation, migration, and sustainment while managing and mentoring technical teams.
• Troubleshooting and optimization: Ability to diagnose complex storage performance and backup issues, identify root causes, and implement timely solutions.
• Automation and scripting: Hands-on experience with storage/backup automation, IaC, PowerShell, Python, Bash, and automated provisioning and capacity management.
• Operating systems and databases: Proficiency with Windows and RHEL storage management, including volume management, storage presentation, MPIO, backup agents, and backup/restoration of Oracle, SQL, and other enterprise databases.
• Communication and documentation: Excellent ability to communicate technical concepts, collaborate across teams, and develop project plans, status reports, DR runbooks, job guides, and technical documentation.

Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications

• Two (2) years' experience in an advisory/managerial position supporting DoW or Federal enterprise infrastructure. This includes evaluating, manufacturing, and integrating enterprise-level storage and backup software technologies.
• Five (5) years hands-on experience with enterprise SAN (Storage Area Network) management to include capabilities and technologies such as: Fiber Channel zoning, iSCSI, FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet) unified fabric, HBA/CNA (Host Bus Adapter/Converged Network Adapter), storage controllers, and LUN (Logical Unit Number), RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), and file sharing / NAS (Network Addressable Storage). Hands-on experience with enterprise hierarchical storage system management; operation of enterprise backup/restore services, using software such as Cohesity DataProtect.
• Five (5) years hands-on experience working with Department of War (DoW) IT systems.
• DOD 8140 baseline certification - IAT Level II
• Computing Environment certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert or relevant certification.

• Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
