Job Description: Data Center and Cloud Engineering Leader

The City of Irvine's Information Technology team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Center and Cloud Engineering Leader to oversee the design, implementation, and management of data center and cloud infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of hybrid environments and will manage the Police Department's infrastructure.

Your Impact

  1. Lead and supervise a team of data center and cloud engineers, focusing on security, performance, and agility.
  2. Mentor team members and conduct performance evaluations.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects.
  4. Lead technical projects, manage budgets, and vendor relationships.
  5. Develop and refine operational standards and procedures.
  6. Manage incident response and develop disaster recovery plans.
  7. Design scalable and resilient data center and cloud solutions.
  8. Implement security measures and ensure compliance with standards.
  9. Automate deployment and management tasks using tools like Saltstack, Terraform, or PowerShell.
  10. Monitor system performance and plan capacity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Six years of IT experience, including two years in a lead or specialized role.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and experience with cloud platforms, data center components, and project management.
