The Information Technology Specialist I will have independent responsibility for the coordination, administration, maintenance and software support for the statewide DNA database, CAL-DNA. The state DNA database must coordinate with and provide data to the National DNA Index System (NDIS), on an ongoing basis through a wide area network. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the accumulation of information, analysis and problem definition, contracting of software development, and the development of statewide plans for databases which interface with local laboratories and the national system, NDIS.

  • This position is located in the Division of Law Enforcement, Bureau of Forensic Services, Jan Bashinski DNA Laboratory, in Richmond, CA.

  • Please note that this classification contains multiple salary ranges. New-to-State employees will be given the minimum salary of Range A, unless you meet Alternate Range Criteria 484 . For current state employees and/or those with reinstatement rights, your salary will be determined in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Special Requirements
  • The position(s) requires that incumbents pass a Background Investigation prior to being hired. The Background Investigation may include Criminal Background and a review of any governmental records.
