Information Technology Specialist (Artificial Intelligence)

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Information and Technology, Chief Technology Office, located in Ashburn, VA.

Key Responsibilities

Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) to lead initiatives, ensure compliance with CBP requirements, and enhance CBP's mission efficiency and effectiveness by collaborating on AI solutions. This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

As an Information Technology Specialist (Artificial Intelligence), you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals to ensure both security and data integrity, and providing training and guidance on AI use and risk management. Typical work assignments include: Leading and actively participating in a diverse portfolio of projects centered on AI and other emerging technologies within CBP.

Ensuring CBP's AI development and subsequent implementation adheres to and exceeds CBP's strict requirements. Identifying potential AI initiatives, systematically tracking their progress, thoroughly evaluating their effectiveness and impact, and establishing a robust governance framework guiding their responsible deployment throughout CBP. Advising CBP management on AI integration to enhance CBP program's efficiency and effectiveness.
