Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a project financial professional to own budgets and forecasts for IT project portfolios, analyze performance, and support the monthly close. The role requires strong FP&A, accounting knowledge, and hands-on experience with Oracle ERP and Power BI to deliver actionable insights.

The position involves partnering with PMOs and Finance to optimize capital vs. expense decisions and ensure data integrity.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Business or related with 2 years of project financial analysis experience.
• Experience owning budgets and forecasts for a portfolio of IT projects.
• Knowledge of project-accounting concepts (capital vs. expense, capitalization, EAC forecasting).
• Experience with enterprise ERP / project-accounting systems (Oracle or similar).

Responsibilities

• Consult on budgets, monthly forecasts (estimate-at-completion), and cash-flow for IT projects.
• Analyze project financial performance; track actuals vs plan; identify variances and insights.
• Manage analysis of multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
• Support the PCR process by evaluating financial impacts, risks, and funding requirements.
• Partner with Finance on capitalization activities, funding requests, accruals, and monthly close.
• Monitor financial risks, trends, and KPIs; escalate concerns and mitigate with PMO/IT leadership.
• Maintain financial reports, dashboards, and documentation to ensure data integrity.

Must Haves:

• Highschool diploma/ GED with relevant experience OR Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, Business or related and 2 years of experience in project financial analysis, FP&A, cost analysis, or project controls


• Experience owning budgets and forecasts for a portfolio of projects


• Knowledge of project-accounting concepts (capital vs. expense, capitalization, estimate-at-completion forecasting)


• Experience with enterprise ERP / project-accounting systems (Oracle or similar)

Plusses:

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; hands-on experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI


• Comfort with AI-powered productivity and analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot), and the curiosity to apply them to financial analysis and reporting, is a plus

Day to Day:

• Consult on budgets, monthly forecasts (estimate-at-completion), and cash-flow / spend curves for a book of assigned IT projects


• Analyze project financial performance by understanding how to track actuals against plan, identifying variances, and provide insights and recommendations to project managers and stakeholders


• Manage analysis of multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining accurate records around complex workflows


• Support the Project Change Request (PCR) process by evaluating and quantifying financial impacts, risks, and funding requirements associated with proposed changes


• Parter with Finance to support capital vs. expense classification, capitalization activities, funding requests, accruals and the monthly close process


• Monitor project financial risks, trends, and performance indicators, proactively escalating concerns and recommending mitigation strategies for the PMO and IT leadership


• Maintain financial reports, dashboards, and supporting documentation to uphold data integrity and reporting standards


• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of project financial data throughout the project lifecycle while adhering to PMO governance
