Job summary

The Department of Technology Management and Budget in Michigan seeks a senior IT Programmer/Analyst to support customer workloads in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services clouds. This role builds on existing IT skills for DTMB tenants in public clouds and covers operations from incident response to container support.

Hybrid schedule available: two days on-site in Dimondale and three days remote per week. A signing bonus up to $2,500 may apply after probation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 21 semester credits in computer science, data processing, networking or math.
  • Associate's degree with 16 semester credits and two years IT programming/tech experience.
  • Alternative education path allowing substitution with experience as specified.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior level administrative, technical and programming support for customer workloads in Microsoft Azure and AWS clouds.
  • Support DTMB cloud operations: incident management, disaster recovery, backup, storage, network and data/innovation.
  • Contribute to app/paaS monitoring, policy changes, identity governance and container support.

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (21 credits)
Associate's degree with 16 credits + 2 years IT experience
High school + 4 years IT experience substitute allowed

Job description

Provide senior level administrative, technical and programming support for customer workloads in the Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Stervcies clouds. This positoin leverages and builds on existing IT technical skills for application in DTMB managed tenants in the public clouds. The Cloud Servcie Operations team is responsible for operational clooud support, including incident management, disaster recovery, backup, storage, network, data innovation, app innovation, PaaS scheduling monioring, policy change implementation, identity governance and container support.

  • The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.
Position Location/Remote Office:

The office location is Dimondale, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

SIGNING BONUS

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Education

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12

Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

OR

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12

Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.

Certain positions may require certification in specific information technology programs.
