Position Status: Pending Contract Award

Position Overview

Check Defense is a fast-growing federal contractor seeking an experienced Information Technology (IT) Manager to lead and oversee all information technology operations supporting a U.S. Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) training, maintenance, logistics, and mission support contract. The IT Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, administering, securing, maintaining, and continuously improving all contract-supported information technology systems, networks, communications infrastructure, and cybersecurity programs. The successful candidate will serve as the contract’s senior IT leader and ensure reliable, secure, and compliant operation of both Government-furnished and contractor-operated IT resources. This position works closely with Government stakeholders, program leadership, cybersecurity personnel, instructors, maintenance teams, and logistics staff to support mission-critical training and operational requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead all contract IT operations supporting UAS training, maintenance, logistics, and mission support functions.
• Develop, implement, and maintain IT strategies, policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related matters with Government customers and contract leadership.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to IT administrators, network engineers, help desk personnel, cybersecurity staff, and support contractors.
• Develop long-range plans for technology modernization, infrastructure improvements, and system enhancements.
• Oversee administration and maintenance of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks, servers, workstations, and peripheral devices.
• Manage Active Directory, enterprise services, user account administration, and access control processes.
• Monitor network performance, identify system issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate software installations, upgrades, patches, and configuration management activities.
• Maintain inventory and lifecycle management of IT hardware and software assets.
• Manage cybersecurity programs in compliance with DoD, Army, NIST, RMF, and organizational requirements.
• Support vulnerability assessments, security audits, inspections, and accreditation activities.
• Monitor systems for cybersecurity threats and coordinate incident response activities.
• Develop and implement cybersecurity awareness training and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with data protection, access control, and information security requirements.
• Manage trouble ticket systems and track performance metrics.
• Ensure effective customer support for instructors, maintainers, logistics personnel, administrative staff, and leadership.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring issues.
• Develop and maintain IT operational plans, status reports, risk assessments, and performance metrics.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance technology performance.
• Participate in Program Management Reviews (PMRs), In-Process Reviews (IPRs), and customer meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible IT experience, including network and systems administration.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience leading IT teams in government, military, or enterprise environments.
• Experience managing enterprise-level networks, server infrastructure, and information systems.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and security compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting complex technical environments with multiple users and locations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365 applications, and enterprise IT systems.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Army, TRADOC, aviation, or UAS programs.
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
• CompTIA Security+, Network+, or CASP+ certifications.
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Azure Administrator, or equivalent certification.
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
• Experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, virtualization platforms, and enterprise storage solutions.
• Experience supporting classified and controlled-access IT environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in office, classroom, maintenance, and operational environments.
• Ability to lift and move computer equipment and peripherals weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to access server rooms, communication facilities, and government workspaces.
• Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or non-standard hours when operational requirements dictate.
